Parisian Style

Parisian Style

I’ve recently fell in love with Parisian style. I love how Parisians are always casual, yet dressy and, always chic, yet sexy. I’ve realized I need some of this in my life, and that the Parisians definitely know what they’re doing when it comes to style. They’re devoted to basic pieces, and always going for a minimalistic look but they can make it work for any occasion. I’ve done my research on Parisian style and rounded up 5 tips to help you embrace their style in the best way possible.

  1. Stick to the Basics

You won’t be able to nail your Parisian style if you don’t have a ton of basics in your wardrobe. Here are some basics you will need: a white tee, striped top, classic black blazer, white button-up blouse, a little black dress, black trousers, and a pair of skinny jeans. These are the basics that Parisians build their chic look around.

  1. Neutrals Only

Parisians like to stick to their neutral colors black, white, beige, gray and brown. This is because these are the most versatile colors, and can easy be paired together, or with brighter colors. These colors will also NEVER go out of style, and will always scream sophisticated and chic.

  1. Wear Less

Less is more in Parisian fashion. You don’t want to look like you tried too hard by adding a bunch of different layers to “make the outfit complete.” While accessorizing keep it simple, either wear one statement piece of jewelry or no more than three simpler pieces. If you want to accessorize with more than just jewelry say a hat, or scarf choose just one and let that be the center of the outfit. For example, the center of my outfit is my beret (which I will talk more about below)!

  1. Make Trench Coats Your Best Friend

The trench coat is a closet staple that every girl needs. Maybe, it’s the classic shape or its timeless appeal. Nevertheless, Parisians love their trench coats year ‘round. The most common trench coat is beige, but fashionistas everywhere are pushing limits with their trench coats. From bright colors, to different prints it’s definitely okay to own more than one. Wear yours with jeans on the weekend, or over your dress for a more formal occasion. The possibilities are endless so don’t be afraid to experiment like I did with this grey trench coat from RomweI highly recommend checking out Romwe if you’re looking for cute, yet affordable clothing!

  1. Get Yourself A Beret

Are you actually fully embracing Parisian fashion if you don’t wear a beret?! It just so happens that berets were a big hit in the fashion world this winter. Celebrities and bloggers were mixing the Parisian accessory into their “American” style and they absolutely killed it! I wasn’t too sure how I felt about the beret, but I’m always up for trying something new. I’m still not sure if I was wearing it the right way, but I think I love it!

Oh yes! Must be a “genes” thing. You touch on many of the styles I wore and loved in ages past. The berets I had were bought at L & T and were usually black wool or black velveteen. Thanks for the memories!
