Is it too cliché for me to start off this post with one of my favorite quotes from Sex and the City?
“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week.”
Although this isn’t my first time attending Fashion Week, this time around was way different than previous shows. This year I was honored to be invited to a few shows, instead of volunteering at them through my school. As much as I loved volunteering it was so exciting to be able to sit down and watch. It also allowed me to look at the collections in a different perspective; I was really able to digest each look, and look for new trends. Therefore expect to see a bunch of new posts where I will be trying out some of my favorite looks I saw on the runway!
Being an up and coming blogger at fashion week is intimidating, so picking out the perfect outfit was essential. I didn’t want to over dress, or under dress, therefore I had to do some research! I took a glance at pictures from previous seasons to get an idea of how guests dressed for the specific shows I was attending. After finding a little inspiration I was able to put together this awesome look thanks to SheIn. I recently partnered with the online site SheIn, who sent me a few gorgeous pieces to try out and this cape coat was one of them! Considering it’s name “cape COAT” I was expecting to wear this coat with a pair of jeans and knee high boots. However, the coat was extremely long on me, but I absolutely loved it! I’m not sure if it was really long considering I’m short, or it just ran big, nevertheless I turned this coat into a cape DRESS. Considering it’s still freezing out I put a plain, black long sleeve dress underneath, and threw the coat on-top. A pair of knee-high boots to cover as much of my legs as possible (considering it was 28 degrees this day), my favorite cabby hat and I was set! I love a quality piece of clothing that speaks for itself. This dress/coat didn’t need many accessories because it was a statement piece. I received so many compliments on this look that was effortless to put together. If you’re looking for a few statement pieces to add to your wardrobe like this cape coat/dress than I would recommend checking out SheIn. Their prices are extremely affordable and the quality is adequate.
